As required by the Province, Second Units will be permitted in single detached, semi-detached and townhouse dwellings, in both urban and rural areas.
Second Units can be built as an apartment within a house (like a basement apartment), as part of an accessory building to the main house (like a garage suite), or as a standalone accessory building (like a coach house).
All new Second Unit construction will require a Building Permit from the City’s Building Division.
Learn more at our public information session on Tuesday, February 26 from 4 to 7 PM come-and-go at Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle - 306 McNabb Street (see on Google Maps).
The final report to City Council containing the recommended policies and regulations is now available below. To submit a written comment, please email Peter Tonazzo, Senior Planner at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and mailing address by Monday, April 1.
